Hans-Christian Jaenicke, the violinplayer of Duo diagonal (TANGO 040, Tropical
-SONY/BMG) now has composed absolutly strange Tangos:
With BACH TUNES AND FREE TANGO Jaenicke adapted old fellow Johann-
Sebastian Bach´s material and translated it into handsome tangos, added a good portion
of tension and chopped all by the means of classical modernity.
Spiced with diverse quotations, for example MI BUENOS AIRES QUERIDO by Carlos
Gardel or the hunting signal SAU TOT up to cuban Son of BUENA VISTA SOCIAL
CLUB a weird blend emerged, in which everything fits ingeniously.
Jaenicke found himself congenial partners forming the FLUTTERBAND TRIO,
young pianovirtuoso Cyrille Guignard from Chartres (France) holds, as soon as he
finished his studies, highly aclaimed masterclasses in France, and if he is not playing
Rachmaninoff or crusing with his motorbike, he is engaged in Musique Populaire
Francaise and of course Tango.
Classically trained Bassplayer Bernd von Ostrowski studied in the late 70th at legendary
CMS in Woodstock/New York with Jazzvanguards like Ornette Coleman, Charlie
Haden, Cecil Taylor, to name a few, and toured with Don Cherry, John Tchicai, Lee
Konitz a. o.. Nowadays his main interest is into EarlyMusic playing the Baroque
doublebass Violone in several orchestras, performing among other, but many times, the
music of J.-S. Bach. |

„Jaenicke´s arrangements are strident and sometimes severe, but they are also full of musicality and wit“
